Size for the day, not for today

When you order an outfit for Eid, an aqiqah, a family wedding or a first birthday, the size that matters is the one your baby will be on the day. For babies, a few months is a long time: a baby who fits 3–6M today can easily be in 6–12M by an event three months away. Buying today’s size is the most common way occasion outfits end up too small.

The opposite mistake is sizing up twice to be safe. An outfit that swamps your baby in the photos is just as disappointing. The aim is a neat fit on one specific day.

Estimating their size on the day

  • Measure your baby’s length today and check their latest weight. Our size chart guide shows how.
  • Find where they sit in their current size on our size guide: bottom, middle or top of the range.
  • Count the months until the event. Babies under six months move through sizes faster than older babies, because 0–3M and 3–6M each cover only about three months, while 6–12M covers six.
  • If they are in the top half of their size and the event is more than about two months away, choose the next size. If they are near the bottom and the event is soon, their current size may be right.
  • Look at how they have grown recently. A baby who moved up quickly last time may do so again.

Worked examples for Eid al-Fitr 2027

Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected around 10 March 2027, depending on the moon sighting. A baby born in July 2026 will be about eight months old then, which for most babies means 6–12M. A baby born in December 2026 will be about three months old, on the line between 0–3M and 3–6M; choose 3–6M so it isn’t tight. A baby who is five months old now, in late September, will be about ten months at Eid, likely still in 6–12M, or 12–18M if they are already ahead.

For wedding season, the same method works. A four-month-old at a December baraat three months from now will probably be at the top of 3–6M or into 6–12M.

Custom and made-to-order pieces

For a custom outfit, send measurements rather than an age, and tell us the date of the event, so the piece can be cut with the right amount of room for that day. The price and making time are confirmed when you ask through custom orders, so ask early and measure again shortly before the piece is made, if the timing allows. Our guide to pre-order, made to order and custom explains how each option works.

For babies, comfort matters as much as fit: soft linings, easy nappy changes and no loose trims. Our guide to Eid outfit ideas covers what makes eastern wear work for little ones.

A backup plan

Even with careful measuring, babies surprise you. Keep a comfortable, simple outfit in the next size ready for the day, such as a two-piece set like our Navy Moon & Stars Henley & Jogger Set, which works for a long day of visiting once the formal photos are done. If a ready-made outfit bought from us arrives and is clearly the wrong size, unused pieces can be exchanged within 7 days in original condition, with the original bill, so check it against your baby’s measurements, or against clothes that already fit, as soon as it arrives rather than the night before the event.

Quick answers

What size should I order for my baby’s Eid outfit?

The size they will be on Eid day, not today. Measure now, see where they sit in their current size, and go up one if they are in the top half and Eid is more than about two months away.

When is Eid al-Fitr 2027?

It is expected around 10 March 2027, depending on the moon sighting, so the final date is confirmed a day or so before.

Should I size up twice for an outfit months away?

Usually not. One size ahead covers most babies for a few months. Sizing up twice often leaves an outfit that looks too big in the photos.

What if my baby grows faster than I expected before the event?

That is what the backup outfit is for. Keep a comfortable set in the next size ready, and for custom pieces, measure again shortly before making starts if the timing allows, so any change can be taken into account.
