Newborn baby clothes

The pieces we would pick for the first three months: newborn gift sets of six or seven matching pieces, footed sleepsuits with snaps, knit sets with a bonnet and booties, polo rompers and two hooded jumpsuits. Every piece in the shop comes in 0–3 months; these are the ones with envelope necks, snaps, covered feet and hats, the details that make the early weeks easier. The baby's name can be embroidered on any of them from Rs 500.

What a newborn actually wears

In the first weeks a baby lives in sleepsuits and soft one-pieces, with a hat for going out and a blanket for the car. The newborn gift sets cover all of that in one go: a top, trousers, a bib, a hat or cap, booties and a hooded blanket, with washcloths in the four panda sets. The footed sleepsuits snap down the front, so a night-time nappy change does not mean undressing them.

The knit sets with a bonnet and booties are the ones for a winter baby coming home: covered feet, a bonnet that ties under the chin, nothing to lose. The two polo rompers are for warm days, and the hooded jumpsuits for going out when it is cold.

Which size is newborn size?

0–3 months fits most newborns. At Zoha that size is made for a baby of 56–62 cm and 4–6 kg; 3–6 months is for 62–68 cm and 6–8 kg. A baby who was over 4 kg at birth often goes straight into 3–6 months, so if you are buying before the birth, a few pieces in 0–3 months and one or two in 3–6 months is a safe split. The size guide has the full chart, and a footed sleepsuit should leave a little room at the toes.

Details that make the early weeks easier

  • Envelope necks on the gift-set tops, so they slide over a newborn's head without pulling.
  • Snaps down the front and along the legs on the sleepsuits, and underneath on the rompers, for nappy changes.
  • Covered feet on the sleepsuits, the sherpa jumpsuit and the knit leggings, so there are no socks to find.
  • A bonnet or hat in every knit set and gift set. Take hats off indoors, and never put a baby down to sleep in one.
  • Ribbed cuffs that stay put while they kick.

Newborn gifts, and adding a name

If it is a gift, buy 3–6 or 6–12 months rather than 0–3 months: new parents are given plenty of the first size, and a bigger one is worn for longer. A name on the cap or the top makes it personal. Embroidery starts from Rs 500, we confirm the spelling and the price before we stitch, and making takes 7–10 days after you approve it, before delivery. See personalized babywear for how it works, or send the piece straight to the family by putting their address in at checkout.

Questions parents ask

Which of your clothes fit a newborn?

All of them: every piece in the shop starts at 0–3 months. The pieces on this page are the ones with newborn-friendly details, such as envelope necks, snaps, covered feet and a hat or bonnet.

What should a newborn wear in Pakistan's winter, and in Karachi's heat?

In Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the north in winter: a sleepsuit or a knit set indoors, and a hooded jumpsuit with a hat for going out. In Karachi, and anywhere in summer, a romper or a single light layer. The usual rule is one more layer than you are wearing yourself; check the back of the neck, and take a layer off if it feels hot.

Can I order newborn clothes before the baby arrives?

Yes. Delivery across Pakistan takes 3–5 working days, so ordering a week or two before the due date leaves time. If the baby arrives bigger than expected, you can exchange an unused piece for the next size within 7 days with the bill.

Can you add the baby's name?

Yes, on any piece here, from Rs 500. Send us the spelling on WhatsApp or through the personalized babywear page, and we confirm the price before anything is stitched. A personalized piece takes 7–10 days to make after you approve the quote.

Not sure which one?

Send us the baby’s age or weight on WhatsApp and we’ll suggest a size and a piece. We reply to messages within an hour.
