Personalized baby clothes: how name embroidery works, and how to wash it
A baby’s name on a romper, set or gift set: what can be stitched and where, the cost and timing, checking the spelling, and how to wash embroidered baby clothes.
The short answer
A name, initials or a short word can be embroidered on any piece in our shop: on the chest, inside the collar, on a sleeve, or on the cap of a newborn gift set. It costs from Rs 500 on top of the piece, the exact price is in the quote, and nothing is stitched until you have confirmed the spelling and approved that quote. Making takes 7–10 days after that, and delivery adds 3–5 working days.
Washed inside out on a cool, gentle cycle, the embroidery lasts as long as the piece does.
What can be stitched, and where
Up to 30 characters: the baby’s name, their initials or a monogram, or a short word. If you have a small motif in mind, send a picture with your request and we quote for it as well.
The usual places are the chest of a top, the inside of the collar (so the name is private, and useful at nursery later), or a sleeve. On the newborn gift sets the name goes on the cap, which is where parents tend to want it in photos. You choose the thread colour: name the shade, or tell us which colour on the piece it should match.
Which piece to personalize
Choose the piece for the baby first and the name second. For a gift, 3–6 or 6–12 months is worn for longer than 0–3 months, because new parents are given plenty of the first size. A cap or a hooded blanket holds a name well, since it is not stretched or washed as often as a sleepsuit; the chest of a top is the classic place.
If the family has not settled on a name yet, initials are a safe choice, or wait: a piece can be ordered and sent later, and delivery across Pakistan is 3–5 working days.
Spelling, and why we ask twice
The piece is stitched exactly as the name is written in your request. Names here are spelled many ways in English (Ayaan or Ayan, Muhammad or Mohammad, Zainab or Zaynab), so check with the parents before you order. Then type it, tick the box confirming the spelling, and read it once more in the summary before you send. We repeat it back in the quote, and that is the last chance to change it.
How long it takes, start to finish
- The quote comes the same day, by email or on WhatsApp.
- You approve it, and pay 50% or the full amount in advance by bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
- Making takes 7–10 days from your approval.
- Delivery across Pakistan adds 3–5 working days.
- So allow about three weeks from first message to parcel, and order early if the date matters.
Washing embroidered baby clothes
Follow the care label on the piece first. Where it allows a machine wash, these habits keep the stitching neat:
- Turn the piece inside out, so the embroidery does not rub against other clothes or the drum.
- Use a cool, gentle cycle and a mild detergent, or wash by hand. No bleach: it dulls the thread before it harms the fabric.
- Do not iron straight over the stitches. Iron inside out, or lay a thin cotton cloth over the embroidery.
- Dry flat or on a line, out of strong sun, which fades thread faster than fabric.
- If a thread end works loose, snip it close. Pulling it can undo a stitch or two.
Exchanges on a personalized piece
Our 7-day exchange with the bill is written for ready-made pieces. A piece with a name on it has been made for you, so ask us before you order what is possible if the size turns out wrong, and if you are between two sizes, take the bigger one.
